Virtual Graduation Ceremony - 2020

Class of 2020

Virtual Graduation Ceremony Speech

“Together We Can Make a Difference”

Dear dignitaries, community members, and parents

Good morning, welcome, and thank you for attending our special ceremony.

Dear Class of 2020,

This graduation ceremony is not like any previous traditional one. It is a very special one.

It is special because you not only worked hard over the course of your academic career, but also because you rose to the challenge of distance learning and made it happen during a pandemic. And today, you all have a success story to share.

For the last few months, together, administrators, teachers, and parents have been working collaboratively and tirelessly trying every means to continue the learning of our students.

Together we have displayed flexibility and creativity, to provide the best approach and to successfully reach our main goal and mission, to continue to meet our students’ potentials and prepare them for the future, whether it is a university, a college or a workforce. And as I always tell my students “Dream BIG”

Together we rose to the challenge of the novel approach of education, the approach of distance learning and succeeded.

Today, you were supposed to cross the stage after all your years of dedication to learning. Today you will not cross the stage, instead, you will cross the camera and still feel the pride and the fruit of your hard work.

Finally, it is with great pleasure and pride to see right before our eyes, year after year, our school growing, upgrading and flourishing, and our students succeeding, excelling and graduating because together we can make a difference.

I am very proud to congratulate our grade 12 students.

Wish you all the best, Congratulations!

“Through Memory Lane”

Sometimes a walk-through memory lane

is all it takes to appreciate where you are today

So, let me take you down through our memory lane.

Just as Martin Luther King said, “I have a Dream…

The founder of Ecole Ibn Batouta Mr. Omar Ahmad Mallow (Dr. Rabeh) also had a dream, a realistic vision to establish a francophone school for the Islamic Community and it happened.

His dream got realized with the support of other visionary leaders like Mr. Abdillahi Ahmed and Mme. Anissa Omar who chased his dream to provide quality education to the youth and make them life long learners.

2002…..

  • Ecole Ibn Batouta started as a pilot project

2005…..

  • Ecole Ibn Batouta got established as a formal school. Through hard work, commitment and dedication, earned the trust and recognition of parents and students and created a legacy for the next 15 years.

2017…..

  • Ecole Ibn Batouta moved to their permanent premises on 6479 Russell Road, Carlsbad Springs, Ottawa.
  • Beautiful infra structure, spacious equipped classrooms.
  • Highly qualified team of faculty and management.

2018…..

  • Canada Knowledge Academy, Elementary English School got established (The anglophone partner of Ecole Ibn Batouta) on 4400 Boundary Road, Carlsbad Springs.
  • Students excelled brilliantly under the leadership of Ms. Hassna Fattal, the Principal, the embodiment of knowledge; academics and non academics.
  • Students participated and excelled in contests such as Spelling Bee, Math Bee, Talent Show, Multi Cultural festivals and above all Toastmasters Club.
  • Introduction of International School partners from India and invited the students from Saffron School and Silver Oak to attend school immersion programs as short trips.

2019…..

  • Canada Knowledge Academy High School got established under the leadership of the High School Ex-Principal, Dr. Rashida Suleman.
  • International students from India and China and local students joined the school as regular students.

2019…..

  • A year of aspirations, challenges, hopes, accomplishments and achievements.
  • Class of 2020 started their journey to finale with hard work, dedication and commitment.
  • Student council members were inducted as the school leaders.
  • High school students completed their first semester successfully and started their second semester in 2020

2020…..

  • On March 2020, the High School was inspected by the Ministry of Education and the school passed with flying colors because of a dedicated team of teachers, students, parents and management.

However, after that, the pandemic came and schools were closed but with the support of the Canadian government and following the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and of course the unconditional efforts of the school members we conducted online classes and the students successfully completed their courses and credits. And here we are today celebrating the Graduation Ceremony.

Congratulations to all! Thunderous applause to Class 2020.

JUST A PIECE OF ADVICE

Success is a journey, not a destination.

So, you have miles and miles to go before you sleep.
